'Dowry system is considered to be a social problem'. Justify.

Answer: Dowry system is considered to be a social problem because due to fear of providing dowry in the child age, people used to think that instead of sending girls to the school, if we do not send them to school then the money will be saved which they will use it for the dowry. The demands made by the groom's side can be anything ranging from money, jewelry, house, car, motorbike, etc. This puts a lot of pressure on the bride's family. They are forced to take loan, borrow money, mortage or sell their homes and other properties to meet the groom's demands. This is financial exploitation by the groom's family. If the bride's family is unable to fulfill their demands then they have to go through mental, physical and psychological torture. So, dowry system is considered to be a social problem.
